Privacy Policy

Last updated: Oct 22,2026

JMP Painting (ABN 31 957 017 292), operated by Josh McKenzie in Imbil, Queensland, respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean JMP Painting. “You” means anyone who visits our website, contacts us or uses our services.

1. What information we collect

We only collect what we need to quote, schedule and complete your painting job. This may include:

  • Contact details: your name, phone number and email address
  • Job details: your suburb or job address, the service you need, project details and any photos or plans you send us
  • Business details: for builders and commercial clients, your company name and ABN
  • Payment records: invoices and payment history (we don’t store card numbers on our website)
  • Website data: your IP address, browser type, pages visited and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies and analytics tools

We don’t collect sensitive information, such as health or financial account details, through our website.

2. How we collect it

We collect personal information when you:

  • fill in the quote or contact form on our website
  • call, text or email us
  • meet us for a site inspection
  • accept a quote or pay an invoice
  • browse our website (through cookies; see section 6)

Sometimes we receive your details from someone else, such as a builder, real estate agent or property manager arranging painting on your behalf. If so, we’ll only use them for that job.

You can contact us without giving your name, but we’ll need your contact details and job location to give you a quote.

3. How we use it

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and arrange a site inspection
  • prepare and send quotes, invoices and receipts
  • schedule, carry out and follow up on your job
  • meet our legal, tax, insurance and QBCC obligations
  • improve our website and understand which pages and services people look for
  • contact you about your job, or occasionally to ask for a review or offer follow-up work

We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. You can ask us to stop contacting you about anything other than your job at any time.

4. Who we share it with

We only share personal information when it’s needed for your job or to run our business, including with:

  • subcontractors or suppliers working on your job (for example, a scaffold hire company that needs the site address)
  • our accountant, bookkeeper and insurer
  • service providers that run our website, email and form tools, such as our web host and form plugin
  • government bodies or regulators, such as the ATO or QBCC, when the law requires it

Everyone we share with is expected to keep your information confidential and use it only for the purpose we gave it to them.

5. Information sent overseas

Some of the tools we use store data on servers outside Australia. These include Google (email, Google Analytics and spam protection), which may store data in the United States and other countries. We choose reputable providers with recognised security standards, but by using our website or contacting us by email you acknowledge your information may be stored overseas.

6. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device. We use them to:

  • keep the website working properly
  • count visits and see which pages are used, through Google Analytics
  • protect our quote form from spam

Analytics data is collected in a way that doesn’t directly identify you. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the website will still work, though some features may not. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

7. How we store and protect it

We store personal information in password-protected email, accounting and website systems, and keep any paper records secure. Only Josh and people who need it for your job can access it. Our website uses an SSL certificate (https) so form details are encrypted when you send them.

No system is completely secure. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you as soon as we can and take steps to limit the damage.

8. How long we keep it

We keep job and invoice records for at least five years, as required for tax purposes, and longer if we need them for warranty or building records. Enquiries that don’t go ahead are deleted or de-identified once they’re no longer needed, usually within two years.

9. Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it’s wrong or out of date. Contact us using the details below. We’ll respond within 30 days and won’t charge you to make a request. If we can’t give you access, we’ll explain why.

10. Making a complaint

If you think we’ve mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. We’ll aim to respond within 30 days.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
